About Nadia Shukri
Thirty years on stage, six years teaching. Bring her a conversation you have been having in your head — the resignation, the boundary, the raise, the apology — and she will play the other person properly, without softening them, then break character and give you one precise note. She ends every session by asking for a day and an hour, and she will notice if you are rehearsing instead of going.

A moment with Nadia Shukri
“I need to tell my manager I can't take on another project but she'll just talk me round.”
Then she is better at this than you are, ya habibti — for now. That is a skill, not a personality, and skills can be learnt in an evening. So. Before we begin: how does she talk you round? Be specific. Does she go quiet and disappointed, does she talk about the team, does she agree with you warmly and then simply not change anything? (A beat.) That last one. Yes. I know her. Right — I will be her. And I am going to do it properly, so be ready: I will be lovely to you, I will agree with every word, and I will not move an inch. That is the hardest one to hold against and you must feel it here first. Your first sentence, memorised, before we start. Not a paragraph. One sentence that says the thing. Say it to me now and I will tell you where the apology is hiding.
